Play Frisbee

Play Frisbee

People have been tossing around disc shaped objects for a long time. There was even an ancient weapon used in India that very much resembled the modern day Frisbee. The history of the modern Frisbee began in 1955 when a product known as the Pluto Platter was introduced. Two years later, in 1957, the Wham-O Toy Company purchased the rights to the Pluto Platter.

Two years later, in 1957, the Wham-O Toy Company purchased the rights to the Pluto Platter. The next year they changed the name to Frisbee after the Frisbie Pie Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. It seems that Yale students had been using the Frisbie Pie tins in exactly the same way the Frisbee would be used. Today, Frisbee is actually a registered trademark of Wham-O. The name has become a commonly accepted generic name for any type of flying disc.

The Date Activity

Frisbees resemble balls in many of their recreational applications. Two people can have an enjoyable afternoon in the park just tossing one back and forth lazily. Because it is so flat and weighs so little, it makes a perfect accessory on almost any outdoor orientated date. You can play Frisbee at the beach or pack it in your picnic basket. It is that universal type toy that anyone can master with just a little bit of effort.

On Your Own / With Friends

There are tons of different games you can play with your Frisbee; Frisbee Golf is one of them. It is played in the same way as regular golf except for the little white ball and the bag of clubs. Instead, a Frisbee is tossed towards a target at a set distance away.

Another very popular Frisbee game is a cross between football and soccer played with a Frisbee rather than a ball. Teams of players move the Frisbee/ball down the field by tossing it to one another, always moving toward an end zone or goal. This is a perfect activity for groups of friends. There are organized leagues available, but a group could just as easily chose up sides, find a large enough field, and just do it for the exercise and the fun.
