I agree, with NOT going to the movies on a first date. Who wants to sit next to someone in the dark with their mouth shut for two hours?

But I have to admit, I have NEVER replied "yes" to someone asking me to go to his house to watch a movie before going "out" on a date. If I wanted to, I could watch a movie alone.

If you don't have money to spend on a movie, I am going to suggest that you can't "afford" to date. Talk a friend into having a party and spend your money on a 12 pack or better yet, impress the party goers with a HOMEMADE dish.

Women appreciate a man who cooks, ha!

Hmm…I can see the romantic movies and the horror movies as being good for a date. But Clockwork Orange!!!!! Come on people there's multiple rape scenes in that movie. The first time I saw the movie I was about 19. Though I could appreciate the complexity of human emotion, I had to turn the movie off and finish it another day because it is so disturbing. Why would you want your date….on your first date, especially…. to watch multiple rape scenes, uncomfortable punishments, torture and sadness? Stick with a good thriller without too much blood (in case she has a weak stomach) and she will be sure to jump right into your lap with a flush and a high pulse you didn't even have to work for. This is the reason you wanted to bring her to your place and a nice comfy sofa in the first place, is it not?

im going on a first date, but i already no the guy (friends first)? should we still consider going to the movies and which ones?!

    Hey Katlyn,

Since you guys already know each other, going to a movie would keep the mood friendly and won’t give you a chance to get closer. Instead, try doing something a little more romantic like going out to dinner or a walk in the park. Whatever you decide to do, it should be something you wouldn’t normally do with him as a friend. Alternatively, you can rent a movie and bring it back home.

If you have your heart set on going to the theater, I would suggest you watch a horror movie. Even if you’re not scared, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to hold his hand and get closer to him. If you’re going out this weekend, I believe 28 Weeks Later is coming out. I can’t promise that you’ll enjoy it, but it’s probably your best bet if you’re going to the movies.
