Here are some good first date tips for women.

Stay away from your cell phone

• Unless you're a doctor or you get a really urgent call, it is best to stay away from your cell phone, it is extremely rude to call or text your friends while ignoring your date.

Have some topics in mind

• It can be anything like funny stories, queries or any general topics you can talk about if you run out of things to say. Be prepared to start a conversation, those long silences can make both of you uncomfortable.

Keep the conversation fun and impersonal

• Stay away from revealing too much information about yourself or your past. Avoid discussing anything controversial like strong views on religion, politics, marriage etc.

Have a conversation not a monologue

• Don’t just do all the talking yourself, listen to him too. Ask him about himself it will make him relax and you will get to know him better.

Get to know about his friends

• You can find plenty about a person by the kind of company he keeps, ask him about his friends and it will tell you a lot about him.

Notice how he treats others

• He may be very sweet and respectful to you, but if he is rude to waiters or others less fortunate than him then alarm bells should start ringing. You can get a good idea of a person’s character by seeing how he treats people who are less fortunate than him.

Instincts are usually right

• Trust your instincts, a woman’s instincts are very accurate. If you get a weird intuition or bad vibes make your first date the last date.

Remember, guys can be shy too

• Some guys are just plain shy and take some time to open up, so don’t be very judgmental if the guy is a little quiet, give him a second chance and maybe he will open up more. Once he gets to know you better, he might relax and be more himself, which could be fun.

End the date nicely

• The only reason to hold hands or to kiss the guy must be if you genuinely like the guy enough to do so, otherwise you don’t owe him anything. Else, just a goodbye wave and a “Call me sometime” are just fine. If you don’t like the guy it is best to give him a hint and let him know, no point in keeping the guy hanging it will also make you feel guilty.

Just be yourself

• The worst thing you can do on your first date is to act differently just to impress the guy. Just be yourself and you will have a good time.

Some extra things

• Make sure you know in advance where you will be going and dress accordingly, the most important thing is to wear something you are comfortable in and something that suits your personality.

• If you are choosing the venue, it is a good idea to select a place which is not particularly expensive else you might come across as being too high-maintenance. If you go to a restaurant avoid ordering messy or sloppy food, you definitely don’t want that huge burger with extra mayo dribbling down your face.
