Good article, but problem is, sometimes they are just that way; never appreciate a small or a big thing, ignorant and selfish. such people do exist too and trying to change them only makes you live in the illusion that things will work out, and fairytale will be eventually perfect. It won't be. The ignorant part will either make a massive effort to come towards you, which isn't all that great either since you will know it's not coming from the heart, or he will just get pissed off and shut himself (or herself) in a shell.

My advice to any girl: if your man forgets your birthday or anniversary or anything like that -- just leave. a loving, caring person could never do that, trust me!

I agree, because it is easy to get caught up in the things someone else does wrong and forget how you've been acting. In order for you to be shown appreciation, you need to show appreciation yourself. Both people should together try to make each other happy. If you are unhappy, it will not change unless you do something about it, and if you want to keep your relationship, I think both people need to work together to make things happen, so both people will feel appreciated. If it is hard to talk to your significant other, realize that they may feel unappreciated also, and that talking about it may help both of you find a way to feel more appreciated.
