A few years ago, I went on a date with a man that I knew I didn't have anything in common with. He took me to a nice restaurant, and then we went for a walk along the beach. Even though I knew I wasn't attracted to him, I couldn't say no when he'd asked me out. Why? I didn't know it then, but my habit of being unable to say no would dictate future relationships, to the point where I would end up hurt, miserable and ultimately alone.

One of my close friends is more than a few years older than I am. Because she was happily married for many years and has raised amazing kids, many single women seek her advice. Until recently I wasn't one of them. Let me back up. I never thought her advice applied to me until recently.

When it comes to sex, it's important that both members enter into all aspects of their relationship with a healthy and positive attitude. However, no one is positive every day, and it's only a matter of time before doubt, low self esteem, and negativity may cause issues to arise.
