When you have been dating someone for a longer amount of time, you may find yourself bored and lacking ideas to spice up a date. It can be as simple as finding new, exciting places to go. Take the time to think up some new ideas for dates to give a little spark to an otherwise boring evening. Here are some ideas to help you conjure up a creative date.
Take your date to the playground. You might think it is for kids, but running around, playing on the swings, and sliding down the curvy slides can lead to a daytime or nighttime full of laughs. It also leads to great conversation as you sit on the seesaw and just look at each other. A simple but unusual date can be going to an Art museum, or gallery opening, and then taking a large pad of paper, crayons or markers, and trying to recreate what was hanging in the museum. If neither of you has any art ability, you can at least laugh about it for hours.
You could consider taking lessons in something that you both enjoy, such as horseback riding, sailing, or tennis. That way you can learn something new while you spend time with each other. Try a local rock climbing wall, aerobics class, or a spa. All of these ideas can inspire not only your love life, but they can keep you in shape. A planetarium can be an atypical date. It is a wonderful place to sit in the dark, hold hands, and enjoy a little bit of what the earth has to offer. Some planetariums have laser light shows that are set to music, to make looking at the stars more exciting.
For a really unusual and unknown date, try a “coin flip date”. You go to a downtown, historic, or touristy area and park somewhere. You then flip a coin to see which direction you go in. Heads you go left, tails you go right, and see what interests you. Every stop you make, flip the coin again; let the date take you wherever the coin flip leads you. There is no planning, and you can find out what a person likes or dislikes by the type of museums, stores, or restaurants they want to stop at. You can make any date fun and creative, just put a little a bit of yourself into it.

This website provides no decent answers for anyone who has a IQ over 10! The 'unusual date ideas' such as go to the muesuem or to the park! How original!
Hey Ashley,
I like to think that my ideas hover around the 15-20 IQ level...but that's ok.
As per your request (implied), I went ahead and added a link titled "Date Ideas" to the top each blog post. You get about 40 additional date ideas and you can find nearby locations (if you live in the US) for many of them.
Hey Ashley,
I have a great date idea for you that is not original - take your date to a hooked on phonics training course to show him that you are willing to learn how to spell. FYI, it is museum, not muesuem.
Bob
Hey bob,
hooked on phonics is people who can't read and or people with speech impediments...dumbass.
Mike
This is awesome...I put up a post on creative date ideas and it turns into a spelling bee.
bob -
i love you ... show him who is boss!!!
but anyways if you are so worried about going on a date with someone because of what they think of it. You shouldn't go with them in the first place, but that is just me. It is the thought that counts.
Eric
hey!
i actually thought some of the ideas were great..very creative...especially the one under cheap dates : "go look at people at malls and then tell stories about the people"...hehe..that's cheap alright :D
The blind date advice was also good...but i found this site 2 weeks too late.
Well...thanks Mr. Zvagelsky (thank god this is the net..i could never utter that name with a straight face :P)
cheerios!
Bob,
What crawled up your ass and died?
I think the website is at least interesting, and I don't understand why someone would be such a jerk to criticize it. If you don't like it, make your own damn website and stop being such a prick.
And P.S, Get a life.
Bob is hilarious!!!!
I thought the mall idea was cool, too. And the playground...I still love playing on playgrounds. The important thing is you should have a great time no matter what you're doing. I think some of us get caught up in the idea that we must impress our date by where we take them or how much money we spend on them, but getting to know each other, and/or having a great time together if you're already past the initial dating phase, is the most important thing.
Ronny,
Why don't you ever take me out on any of these fun date activities? Huh?
Well Liz if you must ask:
You're afraid of horses, heights, and water...so that rules out like 80% of the activities listed above.
Also, didn't we go to a playground in Laguna two weeks ago? And what about the arcade on Saturday? How quickly we forget.
EVIDENCE (yes, I actually do these things):
Playground
Arcade
This is a cool Website, i've gotten some good ideas here :]
i have a fun cheap double date idea that my friends and i recently tried and we had a blast! (i wouldnt do this for blind dates or first dates unless you really know the person)
the idea is to have fun...and if your open and can handle possibly being laughed at in public then go for it!
Go to your nearest Goodwill or thrift store with your bf/gf and your friend and their bf/gf.
Guys go to the girls section and girls go to the guys section
YOU get to pick out your dates outfit for the evening and they get to pick out yours! (no questions asked they HAVE TO WEAR IT!)
if you want you can lay some ground rules for your bf/gf before hand, like nothing to revealing or something you would consider offensive, unless you really just dont care...my bf just asked that i didnt put him in a dress lol
you can also make a spending limit...no more then $5-$10 for the whole outfit (the outifit for my bf only cost $3.14)
after you've picked out your outfits for the night head out to dinner or a movie, or a walk in the park, or wherever you want to go. (be sure to plan this in advance so you dont sit around in your outfits asking "now what?!")
my friends and i went to a local ihop for dinner where we got "VIP" seating haha, i think thats just where they seat the weirdos, and to finish the night off we went to a movie.
i was alittle scared when i tried on the outfit my bf bought for me...it was awful lol...but all in all we had a fantastic time.
Hey! I appreciate the ideas! I'm new to the dating world, and this is helpful...so don't listen to those who criticize. Just go google elsewhere...
Thanks for your help!
A Person,
Thanks for the support. There will always be people out there that criticize others…so I don’t really take it personally anymore. At the end of the day, if I can help at least one person make their date more fun and/or creative, then I will have succeeded.
Good luck with all your dating endeavors.
Ron
Here's an idea for asking someone out: (what you do on said date I leave to Ron's expertise and creativity)
1.Write a note asking whomever it is to go out with you. *The key: Make it simple: something like "IHOP tonight at 7 with (your name here)?" in big letters on a paper.
2. Cut up that paper into pieces, one word per piece. Roll up each piece of paper.
3. Go to a party store, say, Party Depot etc, and pick out brightly colored balloons.
4. Stick one piece of paper inside each balloon before inflating it with helium.
5. Attach a flower and a note (make sure to have a needle taped on it and the note can say: "Pop Me!") or something to the ribbons of the balloons, and you now have a balloon boquet.
6. The person you are asking will have to pop the balloons to get the pieces of paper, and then put them together to come up with the message.
This one is tried and true, and is a winner every time!! Good luck!
Hey!!!
For Valentines day for my man. I made him so on a savenger hunt all around my house the last one sit down and fill out the survey. One he filled out the survery it said Hey Handsome meet me in the bed room. There were cut out paper foot prints all the way to my room rose pedels all over the floor and on my bed. his no lights on it was dark, with glow in the dark stars everywere and candles light everywere ballons tied to the sides of the bed. He really enjoyed it alot.
On our annervery next month, im givng him a promise ring becouase hes already gave me one. iM NOT SURE excally what im doing yet, But i know im going to get a hudge box and im going to be sitting in it and balloons all on it. and when he opens the big box ill pop out with the ring...
this website is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! and i love it
so me and my girlfriend got in an argument today and well, i was hoping to find some sweet new date ideas so she'd be nice again, but i've already used most of these.
p.s. they work fo real.
jack that totally blows. if i were you i would just take her another park. that should work. it works for me. any tips from any chicks?
Jack-
I'm sorry to hear that. The park idea is cute. I also really like the pieces of paper inside the ballons thing. Maybe do that And say "I'm so sorry, sweetie" Or some pet name she likes.
Ron-
Thanks for the site, I've gotten a whole list written down now! :)
~*Andrea*~
Bob, you're a dick, but I like that.
P.s You guys all are different people with different interests. it's evident that you will like different things to do for a date. So why can't you just go play in a "mueseum" AND in a hooked on phonics center?
kthxbye
just one cute idea that worked for me...
some pre-requisite:
1. your gf must be driving to work everyday and this driving must take more than 30 minutes.
2. her car must be equipped with CD player
plan: you burn a CD with some of her favorite songs. After the second or third song, you'll have mixed and recorded your voice to tell her how cute she is, how much you're looking forward to seeing her when she comes back from work, the adress of the restaurant you'd be meeting, etc... best is also to be able to estimate where she'll be when she'll be listening to you "you must be right now driving past... etc..."
thibaut: I did that a few years ago as the girlfriend constantly listened to the same CD over and over. So when she got around to that point and expected the next song, she heard me saying I love her. Frightened the bujeezus out of her and she nearly crashed. Is there a section on how to knock off your partner?
Some hotel foyers have seating and you can order snacks and drinks. My Favourite date is ordering coffee and a place of biscuits, but not a room, don't push your luck. It's cheap, luxurious surroundings and quiet enough to chat. There should be good parking too.
I came for the advice and stayed for the banter. Loved the phonics.
Bob you crack me up! I was pissing my pants laughing! Woot!
Gahhd you people are really bored with your lives
One of my favorite casual date ideas is driving to a "makeout spot," like an overlook or riverfront park. I mean, making out need not be involved, but it's like being in high school all over again.
Also, my boyfriend and I like to go to farmer markets and all of the absurd little street fairs our city has.
In the summer, there's also a park where they screen old movies. That's always fun. And once, we decided just to take his laptop to the park and watch our own DVD.
Hey Amanda,
I am also a huge fan of heading out to a lookout spot...it's very nostalgic. The laptop/movie is also a wonderful idea...I have actually done that quite a few times at the beach. Unfortunately, I was a little careless and got sand into the keyboard the last time I went...but that's a whole other issue.
Thanks for the great ideas!
Thought that I would just throw in an idea for an CHEAP activity for a group date (or even a double date) into the mix:
Make marshmallow guns out of PVC pipes and take them and bags of mini marshmallows to a park, form teams and have at it. This is guaranteed for lots of laughs and great memories, unless you have a crapy lung capacity, then you will just have to team up with iron lung. lol.
Cheap, active dates are the best way to go and usually the most memorable.
Lots of good ideas on here, you guys! Especially the mini marshmallow battle! That would be ultimate.
Another good idea is to go fishing. You can do this off of a pier or you can just find a river or lake, wherever your geographical location. And don't underestimate how much fun a girl will have doing this. Being a girl, I found this to be wonderful because we ended up spending most of the time talking and cuddling, but we also caught some fish (I caught the biggest one. heh.) and had a great dinner afterwards. A secluded area is best, but another, not-so-inexpensive idea is to go deep sea fishing. Make it an all day thing or go for a couple of hours, they have all kinds of tours in any harbor. And the catch is tastier in the ocean.
Okay, now I'm craving fish :D
The best date is the zoo
your moms a fish. I like the hooked on pahonix center it work ed fo me'. Bob you are amaizing. But i dont know if these ideals would work to well like grave robbing, but it would be fun haha peace out my home fries.
I think the flip a coin idea is by far the best. What better way to show a good time. I love the random direction that this type of date can go.. GREAT idea ;) Oh and I suck at english so bob please go easy on me LoL
This site is the best one so far there are date ideas and people making fun of each other. i just have a little bit of advice for any of the girls out who are thinking about going to a dance class with there man: FIND OUT IF HE CAN DANCE FIRST! he may not have the best moves but some dancing ability would be good. My guy and i went dancing once and when i saw him dancing i was doing everything not to laugh at him.
Thanks for the site. At least someone out there is trying to help out.
the movie idea is pretty good but if you do not have a laptop, you are shit out of luck. you could build a campfire, roast some mallows, and make shadow puppets instead. uhhhhhh-huh.
i got good i deas from here. but why use those? i say we all take our dates to watch bob and mike duke it out.
Most big parks have a stone checker board or you can bring your own. Find a shady spot, bring your own beverage, set up and talk and play. The concentration probably wont just be on checkers since there will be runners and cyclist moving about. The winner gets a back rub after the game!
When you don't feel like spending money, when you're tired and feel like relaxing, why not enjoy a board game? I'll admit I am not a huge fan of them myself but they can bring about a few laughs. My boyfriend and I have had fun with Scrabble a few times, except we never played with the rules. We felt free to use silly words. He once put the tiles in there to say " I love you" a few hours before I went over to his house so when I opened the game myself I saw the message and thought it was really cute and thoughtful...really though, if you feel like relaxing and spending time with that special person..you can do it the old fashioned way too :)
I absolutely LOVE taking my boyfriend out often becaues although that takes away from the traditional form of dating where the guy plans and pays, I love being able to experience new things that he never knew existed.
Once I took him to a drive-in movie theater that played recent movies that were in the theaters at the time. Drive-ins are hard to find but he loved it.
Another time I took him to a racecar driving track where you put on racing jumpsuits and helmets and then you get into a go-cart looking thing and you go around this huge track with a bunch of people. Go-carts are rather lame but these were sooped up carts that went like 60 mph. He LOVED it.
if anyone has similar ideas that guys would love, let me know :)
If people are looking for a really cheap idea, look no further. You don't even have to leave the house. As soon as she answers the door, grab the said man/woman around the waist and head and viciously make-out with them. It's direct, sexy, and they will think you are mysterious. After that slam the partner against the wall and start dry-humping. Don't be afraid of hurting the other person- everyone has their own comfort zone, but extending your possibilities is like opening whole new doors. From the wall, drag the date by the hair to either the couch or the bed, whichever you can find first. If they have neither, find a nice piece of cardboard and lay it over the floor. Strip off their clothes, duck-tape their mouth and go down! 94% of woman find directness and honesty sexy, so don't worry about denial. If you happen to get one of the 6% that doesn't, don't worry! You've just created a hilarious situation that both of you can laugh about for hours! Great site!
Trevor
trevor...thats alittle over the top in the directness...though being grabbed and kissed without warning is nice. Love the ideas, my man is also a traditionalist, these are dates I can organize and maybe even pay for--and if not, at least Its not a $65 dinner every few days, love to spice it up! we worship you ron!
OK - this one seriously earned me a huge amount of brownie points. Take them out for lunch - yeah yeah - boring as hell, but take them somewhere NICE. Lunchtimes are always quieter. Then for the follow-on, take them to a pottery shop where they can actually have a go at making their own pots, etc. I did this. It was really intimate and tactile (not with each other, lol) and we both got to have a huge amount of fun. It's kinda messy and kinda sensual and you get to erally chat as all you can think about is what you are focussing on and it's a great way to reinforce each other without knowing a huge amount about each other. Try It!
Ok, so my boyfriend and I have been together for a while now! We've known each other for almost 3 years and we've been dating for almost the same amount...Running out of ideas! And I love this site! lol
My favorites:
*Playing bored games. (Bob, he's not very good with spelling so you'll appreciate that we play scrabble to help him spell! lol)
*Dance lessons. (We did that last weekend and he was hilarious! He got a headache trying to learn all the fancy footwork! I felt a little bad.)
*Dinner and A Movie (My mom helped me find this really yummy italian meal that I spent all afternoon cooking for him, and we ate it while watching a movie in the basement. We got all dressed up and took pictures. It was really fun!)
*Park Hopping. (Or at least that's what we called it. We went to a bunch of parks and took pictures in our favorite spots, walked around on nature trails, and played!)
And I've got an idea that I read in a book once:
Go to a Wal Mart and pick a color, say blue.
Both of you have to go throughout the store and find the most creative thing that is blue for $5 dollars or less! It's cute to see what you both pick out. Then give it to each other and have fun!
Wow this is long! lol I think we're gonna try the flip a coin thing tonight!
Thanks fer the ideas guys,
i love goin sumwer secluded at nite and if its cold keepin warm ie small fire and flask and if its warm keepin cool...
its cheap and its just the two of u.
ps. the idea of goin to each others old houses and schools etc is a craker, good fer a fairly early date cos it gets good converstion goin!
she's coming over to my place for 3 hrs... my parents dont knoe bout it... they;ll b out for a movie.. i want to set up something romantic... or even something to do wid a horror movie.. plz suggest...
I'm planning to teach him how to play Dirty Scrabble, a game my sister and I made up back during college. The only rules are that all dirty words count double and you have to have fun. By doubling the point value of all dirty words, you can ease competitive streaks. I think I'll probably teach him a few new words...
We had great fun at the driving range, too. In fact, he really helped me improve my swing!
this web site is not very helpful, i wantd clever ideas not the park. i wanna change things up. i have seen a movie with her the last 5 times!!!!!! ive done the park thing and its good, but it is raining sooo i need somthing new and fast 4 tonight!!! o by the wayy "ALLFORFUN" you didnt make up dirty scrabble, sry but that shit is old!
i didnt really find it very helpful either.
i've only been dating this guy for two months, but we still wanna have fun & do other things besides the movies.
however, i have told him countless times that i wanna go horseback riding =(
