It may come as a surprise, but many short men date tall women. In fact, there are a number of celebrities that are 5'7 and under. A few in particular include Al Pacino, David Spade, Tom Cruise, Michael J. Fox, Emilio Estevez, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Green, Martin Sheen, and Prince (who is 5'2). Despite being short, it would seem that they defy the adage that tall women aren't attracted to shorter men. When it comes down to choosing a mate, height isn't one of the most important factors. Many women choose to date men that are shorter than them. Being short doesn't mean that you have lost your sense of style or appeal. In fact, all of these men are known for their style, good looks, and ability to attract beautiful tall women.
If you're thinking, "Well that's great for them, they're celebrities, " think again. You don't need to be a celebrity to attract tall women, no matter what your height, you can attract beautiful tall women. First there are a few tricks that you can use to enhance your looks and help give you a few inches of height, as well as steps you may take to ensure that your personality is much larger than your physical stature. You'll find that by taking these tips into account, you'll have no problem attracting taller woman, who will see you for the person that you truly are.
First, you can take some steps to address your physical height. Wearing boots that have a thick heel can give you several inches of height immediately. Just make sure that you are comfortable in whatever footwear that you choose. Also, wearing shirts, jackets, or suits that have vertical stripes will give you the appearance of added height. Pinstripes, though subtle will work in this capacity. Also, solid colors tend to add length as opposed to mixing several colors or prints. When wearing suits, use solid colors with pinstripes and save a splash of color for your tie or shirt.
Thick belts with audacious buckles may look great on cowboys, but they'll detract from your height and draw attention to your middle. It's a good idea to select thin solid color belts that aren't the focal point of your outfit. In addition, it is a good idea to work out regularly. By staying in shape and adding muscle to your frame, you can enhance the very best of your features and ensure that you have a lot to offer a woman, physically.
Also, make sure that you aren't slouching and are always practicing good posture. Good posture will go a long way to help give you the appearance of height. Always stand straight with your shoulders squared. That will ensure that you are making the very most out of your physical stature.
Along with the physical steps that you can take, one personality trait that you can use to attract tall women is a sense of humor. You don't have to go out and get a night job at your local comedy club, but by using humor and staying upbeat and positive, you'll find that more women will be attracted to you, no matter what your height.

There is some very good advice in this article. I, myself am 5'4" and have been with my girlfriend for 3 years now who is 5'10". Many short guys like to dwell on the fact that they're short, but honestly no one really cares....its all in our heads.
I'm 5'7 and I have been dating my girlfriend for over a year and she 6'1. She is taller than a lot of men. She used to model and can be dating any tall guy she wants and pick me. So you don't have to be tall to date an atractive women.
so I'm 5'9 and my boyfriend is 5'6 or so, which isn't much of a difference, but it's noticable.
It really doesn't matter. Its what you feel for each other that makes relationships work. You may have a tall or short man who disrespects you will it matter then if he's tall or short.Tall men have been dating short women for ages and its 'Ok'.If a short man dates a tall woman its not?Thats just b.s.Am 5'7 and my girlfriend is 5'10 and you know what, she says all her life shes never met someone who treats her good like i do.and i know i respect her for who she is and we are both happy...so being superficial never helps and it actually kils relationships whether you think of tall,short,fat,skinny...hey just be happy coz deep down our hearts its what matters
My girlfriend is 2 inches taller than me but we are just crazy about eachother. =) So it's not always that taller women don't like shorter men. Actually quite many taller women than me have been interested in me, I don't know why. So in the end it's just a problem for many others outside of our relationship but that's not a problem for us. =)
I have actually dated a girl who was 6'1" (I'm 5'9".) It was fine and I never got negative feedback and most people thought it was cool. I'm going for a 6'3" volleyball player soon, she's goregeous but I'm going for it like it's nothing. A lot of taller women seem to be ignored as men are intimidated by their height.
I have always had a hard time dating taller women. Being 5'7" is tough. I have asked out boatloads of women my height and taller and have never been able to date someone taller or my height. Its very discouraging.
My girlfriend is taller than me by 2 inches.Initially i felt awkward but now its ok cz our love for each other matters at the end of the day.she sacrificed wearing heels just in sake of me.
"When it comes down to choosing a mate, height isn't one of the most important factors. Many women choose to date men that are shorter than them."
I'm sorry, while it's nice to hear about the exceptions, this is statement, is quite catagorically incorrect.
I recently joined a large and respected internet dating site, not because I'm short (although at 5'6" I could be classified as such) but because I work from home and simply don't get meet enough people.
It wasn't until I'd filled in my details and conducted a search that I had the issue of my height thrust in my face: In expressing their preferences, the women on this site almost without exception, didn't care about hair colour, eye colour, salary or ethnic origin. What had they bothered to express a preference for? That their date should be 5'8" or taller. This in their most basic critera, a fact that means my profile will not even show up when they search for suitable matches. The statistical evidence is in this case quite undeniable.
Of course most people advise that women are more interested in personallity that looks in the long run, and giving the benefit of the doubt, I'll accept that, but the "long run" rarely even happens if a womens initial filtering critera have ruled one out as possibility before you've effectively even met.
And finally, my experience on this dating site matches my experience of real life. A friend, thinking I lacked the confidence or social skills to introduce myself to a woman in a bar or at a party tried to help by saying 'catch their eye first, smile, move in to intriduce yourself'. He just didn't get that was exactly what I was already doing, but the opportunities he found whenever he went out rarely presented themselves to me because that glance, smile or move was invariably met by an obvious getsure of disinterest - turning away, choosing that moment to strike up a conversation with someone else etc. The reality is that we as a species, not just women, really are that superficial and cliched in the first instance.
The advice is great and surely encouraging...
I used to date a girl who was 4 inches taller than me, all was fine until she would regularly take the piss out of my height infront of my mates.
If she was having a drink at a bar, she would used my head to keep her glass (like she was putting it on a table),if I said anything - she would rest her chin on top of my head...
But after reading the above - I feel encouraged to re-start dating tall women again....
i am 5'5 my wife is 6'4. no problems. guesswho the boss is?
I have been chatting with a woman that is 6' 1" and I'm only 5' 5"
We have gotten to know each other for the people we are inside and we have gotten along great.
Not only the height but age wise she is 37 and I'm 54.
Neither our height or age difference is a matter of concern to either of us.
I a couple of weeks we will finally meet for 5 days of fun and we are both looking very much forward to it.
Size, age and looks should come second to matching great personalities and a humourous outlook in life.
Knowing your partner so well that you can pretty well finish their sentence before they do.
There is nothing a shorter guy could do to make him more attractive to me. He could be good looking, fit, successful, 'endowed', etc. but if he isn't at least 5'10", forget it. There's no point in wasting my time with someone I know isn't right for me. Like me and my friends say.....Life is too short to date short men!
Well Lynne I'm glad my girlfriend doesn't share your views.
She is quite happy with me being just the way I am.
I just started dating a guy 1-2" shorter than me (my last guy was 6'3" and I'm 5'6") so this is kinda new, but I have to say- he is fantastic. There are so many awful, cocky, think they are "God's gift" men out there- so a sweet smile, and some chivalry really goes a long way. Trust me- women are sick of being treated like a piece of meat! Who cares about a few inches?? I'm happy to throw out my heels!!
Well I finally met my new girlfriend for 5 fun days of camping and the results were fantastic.
We are both deeply in love and I just make it over her shoulders in height.
But there is no problem at all.
When we sleep together she lies in a way that she can cuddle her head right up against my chest and you would think she was shorter than me.
We both share a huge amount of the same traits and we are so much alike it's really scary.
It's like we've known each other for years.
All I can say is if we stereotyped each other, like a lot of people do, and didn't see past the height and size differences, we would have missed a wonderful opportunity for love.
My partner is 37,6'1'' and about 220 lbs and I'm 54,5'5'' and 135 lbs but everyone that met us those 5 days could see the love and affection for each other in our eyes and in our interaction with each other.
So much for going along with what most of the world considers normal.
C has a valid point.
I think it's good to have a realistic view on the topic. Height DOES matters, but it isn't everything and there are certainly other traits that plug into the equation. It matters in the sense that a lot of people (probably most) do feel more comfortable in the traditional taller men, shorter women roles.
If you're trying to meet people online, or in bars, physical attraction is probably the first hurdle you have to get over and people have zones, standards, comfortable ideas that they use to quickly sort out their decisions. Being short, is traditionally a disadvantage.
This can be applied to any trait though. Are you overweight, or not? Are you bald or not? Are you good looking or not? However, if you keep dwelling on things like this and you begin to eliminating people from the "potentials" pool before you even start looking - you're just doing yourself a disfavor.
Another thing to keep in mind is EVERYONE has their insecurities. It's not just you and X quality and no one is perfect. So be more confident in the good qualities you have because that in my experience weighs in much heavier.
That said, there are certainly enough people who are comfortable with the converse situation and you can obviously have healthy, happy relationships regardless of height (or weight, or whatever.)
I'm 5'4" and I used to have a hang up when I was younger. However, after gaining more experience and changing my attitude, I've had a good amount of success dating all sorts of women. In the end, you have to be comfortable with yourself. :-)
I am 5'7 female dating a 5'4 male. I have never been so happy in my life. The only reason women have this setback is society...that it doesn't look right. Seriously that is the lamest thing. Everything about him is perfect....the love, the sex etc. If you are confident about yourself then you wouldn't let a height thing get in the way.
I'm a 26 year old woman and I'm 5'10. I've dated guys who were 5'6 and 5'7 and I've dated guys who were 6'6 and 6'8. To me, if a man is attractive to me, confident, funny, and smart....then height isn't THAT much of a big deal. I've found that I do not like to date guys that care about my height. The men I've dated who were shorter than me didn't care and never even brought it up. It showed they were confident and secure, and that is more attractive than a guy an inch taller than me who is uncomfortable with how tall I am.
I had a bad experience with a short man very aggressive to me and never wanted another one until recently. I met a great and goodlooking young guy of 28y 5'3 small built. I am 45y and 5'7 - I had to get thru three hurdles, age, shortness and small frame. He is sexy, and charming and I am glad he never gave up on me, after 2 years! I was one of those women who would never give a short/young man a second glance, but he taught me there is more to a real man than just height - I guess Big things come in small package.
One woman told me who was about 5'6 said that she doesn't like dating short men because she has to bend down when they kiss. I think that is the dummiest thing I ever heard. I mean. . .seriously.. .you are going to let bending discourage you from kissing. I am 5'4 and although I have never dated a woman who is taller than me, I wouldn't care. She could be seven feet for all I care as long as she is nice and appealing. Women have this ideal tall man.. . It is disguisting to be that shallow.
to the short men (from a 5'11 woman): NEVER wear shoes with heels or lifts! short is sexy and wearing those types of shoes makes you look insecure about your height. embrace it! there are few things sexier than a short man confident enough to wear flat loafers or sneakers and stylish clothes. yum!
LL! that is exactly how i feel! i'm 5'11 and my boyfriend is 5'6. he encourages me to wear heels! my ex-boyfriend is 6'2 and he would get so angry when i wore my 4 inch heels, because i was taller than him in them. i have found that taller men are often more uncomfortable with my height than shorter men are (no offense to beautiful tall men!).
i've always been attracted to shorter men, ever since i can remember! the shorter man/taller woman combo is iconic! it is rockstar and supermodel. i feel so confident and sexy with my gorgeous, shorter boyfriend. not only are we perfect for each other in mind and soul, but our height difference is just so damn hot!
I am a 5'5 man and think that it is stupid for men to be on here whining about how shallow it is for women to consider height. As men, we are much more shallow than women will ever be. Height matters, but confidence is a much more important trait. Being a short male, may give you difficulties in the dating world, but those difficulties can be overcome with self-confidence. Confidence is the sexiest male trait, and it just so happens to be that taller men are generally more confident.
Lynne, have you even dated someone below 5'10"? What an incredibly churlish thing to say. Good luck dating with that attitude.
i'm dating a guy who is about 2 inches shorter than me right now. He's fucking beautiful. He's incredibly sexy, confidant and a great dresser. He's dark, handsome, has a great job, confidant, emotionally healthy, compliments me all the time, opens doors for me, takes me on really great dates, we like the same movies and music. He's fabulous. I feel lucky. Short guys who feel sorry for themselves are setting themselves up for failure. This guy is a catch. A catch is a catch. A positive attitude, sense of humor, confidence and perseverence are rare traits to find in a person. This guy is a total catch and it has nothing to do with his height. I like making out with him cause we're the same height and it physically brings us closer together. If we ever end up having sex, I think it will be fabulous because our height will just set us up for even closer intimacy not to mention the physical advantages of sex with someone close to your height. i'm so satisfied with him that I really don't care if people make dumb comments. By beginning to date a not-so-tall man, I feel like I've opened up this gold mine unrealized to other insecure females giving me quite an edge in finding a quality man.
if he's not insecure with my height in front of people, I'm not insecure with his. we're sexy.
One refreshing thing about this article is that the tips here aren't just for short guys/taller women, but basically just good tips to have no matter what height. Good posture, good fashion, work out, etc.
And also, be yourself too, which is the gist of the last paragraph.
I am falling in love with a man 5" shorter than me. He is a great dresser, well built, is quite handsome.
I was really wary of what people would think to start with, but he is so confident and friendly and funny that it only takes a few moments for anyone to see how this "mismatched" coupling happened.
If you are a short guy and want to find a tall woman, show off your personality! Dressing nice and wearing awesome cologne doesn't hurt though *wink*
Wow! This article along with the comments are great. I feel like I have truly missed out on a whole genre of men due to my avoidance of shorter men. I had a date tonight with a guy a few inches shorter than me and I had a blast. His personality rocks and he makes me laugh constantly. Short men RULE! :-)
Most famous men are short in stature.... Napoleon to Sachin Tendulkar, short is always sweet....it really do not matter if you love persists.
I m 6'1 and usually wear 4-5inch heels when going outside . I dated a boy who is 5'2. It was very difficult for him to handle me. I tested him and he failed in everthing. I took of his clothes and told to stand infront of the mirror and i stood beside him wearing heels .he stood below my breasts. I asked him whether he matches me in any way he said yes and married him .now he is crying everyday .i m superior to him and dominating him even in sex he is like a slave to me. He is afraid of me. Every one laughes at him and he is staying at home. What made him to face this situation is HEIGHT
I never dated a man shorter than me til recently. My boyfriend is 2 inches shorter than me and I love him! He's so sweet and really affectionate. In comparison to the other tall, thick men I've dated in the past I would be crazy to let him go. Great kisser, cuddler and helps around the house. :-D I'll take a short man that treats me well over a tall jerk any day.
I'm dating a 5'6 and I'm 5'11. At the very beginning, I was afraid what people would think of our height difference and so I was ashamed. I did the mistake on telling him that and now that I don't mind our height difference anymore HE is the one having a big probleme with it. Because I once said it was embarassing, now he thinks about it everytime we're together and I really, really don't mind it anymore. I try telling him that it's no big deal, but it became a issue for him.
It's nice to read that other guys don't mind being shorter than their girlfriend. I'll make him read your comments so that he feels better ;-)
Coming from a 5'5 guy, this article has some solid advice. Good wardrobe, hygene and grooming skills should be a must for every man seeking a date with a tall hot woman. It also helps to be in good physical and cardiovascular shape because it directly affects posture and attitude. This is very important for both women and men.
I agree with Laddybyrd's advice for short men not to wear shoes with lifts. It wreaks of insecurity and provokes the question of what happens when the short man takes his shoes off and stands flat footed in plain view of the tall woman? Will it change her opinion of him after realizing he's that much shorter? It really shouldn't matter when people care about each other. It's nice reading the posts here from taller women happily dating or married to shorter men. Too bad there's still a large crop of women who believe height is the first, last and everything in a man. As much as women say men scrutinize them for weight, breast size, butt quality and overall prettiness etc., I strongly believe women are way more shallow and insecure about dating shorter men, in particular the taller ones. Much respect to those taller ladies who have chosen to be different and are confident in themselves dating a much shorter man.
Hey I just wanted to say thanks to all who posted their contributions. As a newcomer to this blog/site, I felt greatly relieved to learn that it's OK for shorter men: tall women relationships that really work!
I've fallen for a girl I've gotten to know better, and we're taking things slow. I was afraid that the fact she's taller/I'm shorter would mean it probably would not work, but after reading these comments, I know better aye? :).
We do like each other, and I felt the only thing that could stand in the way of us becoming more than friends would be my fear and lack of confidence of the height difference.
Thank you thank you thank you ^_^ !
Just wanted to shout out a big "Thank you!" to all you who have posted these uplifting comments here. I am a shorter guy/dating taller woman. We're still in the early stages of dating, but man! Is this a confidence booster! :) thx!
The men I date are 'hidden gems' often overlooked because they are shorter, wider or . . . and that is the only reason they are available - everything else about them is wonderful (irregardless of whether they are a good match for me). When men or women mandate certain physical attributes, they are limiting their search to people who likely have an overinflated ego. Ken will always want his Barbie. What happens when age and life experience takes its' toll? The 'hidden gems' want to be seen for who they are, not what they look like, and they will love you with the same criteria.
My shorter guy makes me feel that my height is incredibly sexy:
The other day I needed to walk slower than normal. My guy said it was hard for him to walk slow with someone whose legs were longer than his. He turned to me and drew a line by his eyes with his hand reminding me that he loves that my 'legs go up to his eyeballs' as he says.
I disparagingly refer to myself as an 'amazon'. Imagine my delight when I overheard my guy telling a friend about me "I met this beautiful amazon woman . . ."
wow I always had shorter women then myself, and had plenty of them as I was a club promoter once..I started dating this girls (now 1 1/2 years)taller then me and at the beggining i was embarrase cause I didnt see that anyone out there like that, specially around my area..but now I feel better I guess love has something to do with it...althought I'm not rich or a celebraty alot of people know me, and I also notice the looks from guys, wondering what she is doing with me since I'm taller specially balck guys, and all I can say is that is jealousy...I love my tall girl..and she loves me ..I'm over it now, so now we can concentrate in being happy..thanks for your comments...it helped..
Sometimes I think that shorter men are better because they work harder in life. They haven't had everything come easy to them. My friend is dating a typical tall, dark, and handsome guy. He's never held a stable job. He is also impractical. When he did have a job, the first thing he did was buy a BMW that he could not afford. He's cheated on her in the past and brought lots of drama into her life. He's constantly trying to get by on his looks.
Now take my fiance. He's 5' 8" and shorter than me by 3-4 inches. He's handsome, but not tall. He works hard at a stable job. He's very practical with money. He treats me like a queen. He encourages me to wear whatever shoes I want. Unfortunately I stay away from heels because I can't walk in them.
Please don't think that all women are superficial and won't date shorter men. Height isn't that important.
i luv tall girls, gimmie one thats 6 footplus.
Tall Girl, I don't think all women are superficial but dating shorter guys is still a big time no-no for a lot of tall ladies. You may be a nice, honest woman who places no importance on a man's height but most tall women have a real hard time dealing with the pressure from society to avoid short guys and the negative attention that goes with dating shorter guys. Society imposes a strong notion of failure to tall ladies who can't land a man the same height or taller. It's rediculous but undenyingly true. Where does this leave short guys? Pretty much SOL in the dating world because the short girls aren't particularly fond of us too. You are right about one thing. Short guys do work hard just to get an ounce of the same respect you ladies give the tall guys.
It shouldn't be this way, but I can't help saying that you ladies have made it this way.
Ironically, I've found that short women have more problems with dating a man who is shorter than them than tall women do.
I think it kind of goes both ways though. My fiance told me that he and some coworkers were discussing dating women who were taller than them. Most of them said that they wouldn't do it because they were intimidated.
Tall Girl, I agree with you that it does go both ways but I personally know more short guys that are willing to date tall girls and a lot less tall girls that are willing to date shorter guys. Tall girls aren't intimidating to me. They just have more to offer physically than a shorter girl. I think they're scared of short guys though. You are right about short girls having more problems dating short guys. They always seem to demand the 6+ tall guys. I guess it's because smaller women feel more vulnerable and need the protection that a tall guy offers. It's still bothersome when you're constantly passed over by women because of something you can't control. It won't stop me from approaching tall ladies because I can't deny or ignore what turns me on in a mate.
Finding these articles helped me a lot..but I still feel a bit weird my girl is taller like a couple of inches then me,n she is skinny, I'm not I'm built..but in the latin comunity we look a bit weirs so how can I get pass that, I don't care most of the time..but yes it does affect sometimes..any suggestions?
Thanks for the article. I'm 5'4" and dating a kindly BBW who is 6'1". It's strange... our society focuses so much on 6'0" and taller in everything. I'm glad I followed my mother's advice: "Wear a suit, get a high-paying job, be a man, and don't bother with girls who don't want you." I'm about to go looking for an engagement ring. I know she'll say yes.
i'm 6'4 my boyfriend is 5'8 .we love it
I'm 5'5 and my girlfriend is 6'2. We love it :-)
I am very tall and pretty girl nearlly 1.77 cm I had many choices but I am in love with a normal short boy !!!!! the problem is that I cannot see any other men just him!!:)
I am a 5'9 girl and i always wanted a man thats taller then me. but since last summer i met a guy who im insanely in love with and hes like an inch shorter but i like to wear heels so i confronted him about it. I asked him does it bother him that im taller. he said, no not at all. I know it doesnt matter to me that he is shorter but i always thought that shorter men didnt like taller woman...guess I was wrong
